The V-shaped sealing ring has a V-shaped cross-section and is also a type of lip seal ring.

The V-shaped sealing ring device consists of three components: a support ring, a sealing ring, and a pressure ring. The standard angle for V-shaped sealing rings is 90 °, and 60 ° is also used in special occasions. The support ring is an important component for supporting the V-shaped sealing ring. Its cross-section is thick and sturdy, with dimensions and concave angles that are the same as or slightly larger than the V-shaped sealing ring (90 °), ensuring stable placement of the sealing ring.

The function of the compression ring is to create an initial compression amount for the V-shaped sealing ring, allowing it to fully contact the sealed surface and adjust the compression amount of the V-shaped sealing ring.

In the free state, the outer diameter of the lip of the V-shaped ring is larger than the inner diameter of the packing chamber, and the inner diameter of the lip is smaller than the outer diameter of the piston rod. In this way, there will be some deformation after assembly. Due to the action of the support ring, this deformation only occurs on the lips and generates pressure at their contact area. Even without applying a compressive force, the lips can seal off a certain amount of internal pressure. Because the lips have a "self sealing" effect, when the working pressure of the medium increases, the lip tip changes the contact shape and increases the contact stress. The lip is more tightly attached to the sealed surface, achieving a sealing effect. As the medium pressure increases, the contact stress correspondingly increases.
